The "Neanderthal Cave Art Hashtag" at Gibralter
Archaeologist Clive Finlayson's team has identified a cross hatch pattern at Gibraltar to which he attributes to Neanderthals (photo by Stewart Finlayson)
A few years earlier I identified a very similar marking in Seneca Caverns, Ohio. Now (May 2017), with a human presence in California detected at 130,000 years ago, it seems possible the Seneca Caverns carved grid could be a similar example of 'Neanderthal cave art' in Ohio.
Just like the Gibraltar example in the article, the Ohio cave grid carvings I discovered are on a flat stone shelf extending from the cave wall and approximately 16 inches above the cave floor. Kind of like on a table top.
